ABOUT
Timothy A. (Tim) Lechner
I’m a Washington native, born and raised in Seattle. I am a third-generation attorney, following in the practice of law my father, Robert Lechner, and grandfather, Lloyd Savage.
After high school in Seattle, I graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in economics in 1983. I received my law degree (JD) in 1986 from Willamette University College of Law in Salem, Oregon.
Following law school, I worked with my father in a small general law practice firm in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. My practice focused on family law, estate planning and probate, guardianship, representing small businesses in a range of areas, and the general practice of law. Following my father’s retirement, I continued with a solo law practice.
After handling a wide range of cases earlier in my career, I’ve narrowed my areas of practice to family law, estate planning, probate, and guardianship cases.
My philosophy in handling a client’s dissolution or issues relating to their children or other contested case is to attempt to minimize the adversarial nature of such cases to work towards meeting his client’s goals by mutual agreement when possible, but when called upon, I’m ready, willing and able to take a more aggressive, litigious approach to get his client’s the best possible results for their case. I enjoy being in court for hearings or trials but recognize that such litigation is more expensive for clients, and it's best to resolve cases amicably whenever possible.
I’ve been in a happy, committed relationship since 2008—we agreed long ago that we don’t plan to get married. In my spare time, I enjoy get-togethers with friends and family, playing golf, listening to live music, riding my bicycle, playing poker, and exploring the great Northwest.

I’ve been a litigation paralegal for more than twenty-five years. I spent many years working for large downtown Seattle law firms in their litigation departments, handling complex civil litigation. I was particularly adept at organizing large volumes of paperwork for the preparation and presentation of complicated cases, often involving cases that lasted several weeks in trial.
I left the big downtown law firm when I was pregnant with my son and worked for the Edmonds School District doing administrative work while he was young.
When my son started preschool, I went back to working in the legal field. For a few years, I worked in the legal department of an insurance company, primarily handling auto accident cases. Then, I went to work for a small firm that also handled defending auto accident cases for four years until the principal attorney I worked for closed the office due to health issues in 2010.
Although I retired in 2010, I have continued to work part-time for Lechner Law, helping to organize paperwork in complicated cases before going to trial, acting as a second witness for will signings, and providing administrative support – if you call for an appointment, you'll likely talk with me about scheduling a consultation.
In my free time, I enjoy playing with my granddaughter and orchestrating family events to keep the memories coming. My passion is my family. I enjoy a wide range of crafting projects, including crochet, paper crafts, jewelry making, and working with epoxy. I also enjoy traveling and listening to live music.
